Bookin'

A Short Film Blending Ballet & Jookin' in a Famous Old Memphis Juke Joint

SCREENINGS

We'd be happy to host a screening of our film Bookin' for you, whether you're a university, a community center, a festival or whatever. From what we've seen, Bookin' strikes a cord of human optimism among our audiences.

Since debuting in 2013, our award-winning short film Bookin' has screened in over 30 film festivals & events worldwide, including by invite to the United Nations World Urban Forum in Colombia. With its valuable life lesson wrapped in artful entertainment, Bookin' has proven to be an impactful and appreciated cultural film—and one that's especially relevant in today’s times.

We've developed a packaged or an a la carte program for those interested in screening Bookin':

(1) Film screening

For starters, we can arrange to have Bookin' screen at your venue of choice. Our short film has a duration of just over 18 minutes. Bookin's Pro-Res film file can be beautifully shown on large screens.

(2) Director Q&A Talk

To enhance your group's screening experience, we would be happy to book John Kirkscey, the Director-Producer of Bookin', to attend your private screening and host both a film talk as well as a Q&A session for audience members.

(3) Dance workshop

We'd also be thrilled to add a dance workshop that would involve one or more of the dancers from Bookin'. The workshop could specialize in ballet or jookin'. If you book a dancer from each dance style, the workshop would highlight the translation of dance moves between their respective dance styles, as realized in the film.
